Tuula Palmen
Mrs. Tuula Palmén, Ph.D, Program Director, is the head of Bioforum Oulu since November 2006. She is responsible for the development of Life Science field of business in the Oulu region in Finland. From 2003 to 2006 she was a program director in Centre of Expertise for Medical and Welfare Technologies responsible for the development of the field of business in the Helsinki Metropolitan Region. From 1999 to 2003, prior to joining the Centre of Expertise Program she worked as a research scientist at Helsinki University and received her Ph.D in medical sciences. In 2002 she finished her BioTech and LifeScience Module in the eMBA Programme at Turku School of Economics and Business Administration. From 2000 to 2003 she was responsible for the research management of Glomega Inc., a biotech start-up company. In addition, Mrs. Palmén has 8 years experience in the medical device, hardware, software and clinical diagnostics markets in companies such as Tamro Corporation, Immuno Diagnostics Ltd. and KONE Instruments Corporation. In science, she has 6 years experience focused especially on cell and molecular biology, flow cytometry, immunology and clinical chemistry in various diseases and disorders such as kidney and pancreatic diseases and leukemias.
