Kari Varkila, MD, PhD, MBA

Director, Head of Healthcare Segment, Deloitte, Finland

Kari Varkila currently heads Deloitte's Healthcare consulting in Finland. Before joining Deloitte in 2008 Kari worked for close to 15 years in various positions and functions in the pharmaceutical industry. His industry experience ranges from discovery research to heading R&D organizations and medical support functions. He has actively participated in setting-up R&D collaborations between industry and academic and other research organizations in Finland. Kari Varkila actively participates in national pharmaceutical strategy discussions and is a member of the steering committee of the Tekes Pharma program. 

Kari Varkila also has many years of experience from academic research and hospital management. He helds MD and PhD degrees from the University of Helsinki and an MBA from the University of Lausanne/IMD, Switzerland. He is also a board qualified specialist in clinical microbiology.
