Asko Hannukkala received his BSc in Plant Pathology from University of Helsinki, Master of Agriculture and Forestry (MSc) in Plant Pathology from University of Helsinki, Finland. He has over 25 years of experience in teaching and research at the University of Helsinki (1982-85) and his current position at MTT, Agrifood Research Finland (1986 - ). His special areas of expertise are in diagnostics, epidemiology and control of plant diseases on field crops, especially potato and oilseed crops. His recent published work includes epidemiological and population studies on potato late blight (Phytophthora infestans) and black-leg and soft rots (Dickeya spp.) He is currently running applied research and development projects on decision support systems and integrated control of potato late blight and diseases of oilseed rape at Plant Protection Group in MTT, Agrifood Research Finland.
