Dr Raija Laukkanen received his Master of Physical Education (MSc) degree in Sports Biology and Biomechanics from the University of Jyväskylä, Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences, Finland in 1985, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Kuopio, Faculty of Medicine, Finland in 1993 and Docent degree in Health-enhanced Physical Activity from the University of Oulu, Faculty of Medicine, Finland in 1998. She has 11 years of experience in research and teaching at the UKK Institute, Tampere, Finland and 14 years of experience in research management and expertise in her current working place at Polar Electro Ltd., Finland, where she holds a position as a Director of Exercise Sciences. Dr. Laukkanen is a Fellow member of American College of Sports Medicine. Her special areas of expertise in scientific research are applied exercise physiology, physical activity and health, endurance sports and cardiovascular fitness testing, dose-responses issues of physical activity and in practise research in wellness technology product development and global research collaboration between industry and science partners. She has published 50 peer review articles and over 200 scientific abstracts and has acted as an invited speaker in several international scientific meetings at her fields.
